MOMENT to Capture the Spirit of Connection

A

Landis Place on King offers more than just living spaces; it provides a dynamic environment where residents create community through meaningful connections. The emphasis on social interaction and integration with the downtown Lancaster area reflects a commitment to enriching the lives of residents and contributing positively to the local neighborhood.

ndy and Ellen Berfond exemplify this well. Tey lived in New Jersey but frequently visited. Andy says, “Back then, we’d come for a day or a weekend. Eventually, we wandered into the city and thought, ‘Tere’s something special happening here.’”

About a decade ago, they decided to relocate to a condo on the edge of Lancaster City, giving them a blend of suburban tranquility and easy access to downtown life.

With the opening of Landis Place on King, Andy and Ellen took the next step in their journey, moving into Landis Place on King, “… now we’re right in the middle of it all,” Andy says with a smile.

Upon relocating, Andy took on the role of documenting resident life, capturing moments from spontaneous gatherings on the top floor terrace to holiday sing-alongs around the piano in the music room. He shares these experiences on the community’s Facebook page under the tagline “CITY LIVING AT LPK” to showcase the vibrant lifestyle of the residents.

“Andy’s contributions to Landis Place on King go far beyond capturing photos – they embody the spirit of connection that defines our community,” said Lauren Kushner, Director of Landis Quality Living Communities. “Trough his lens, he captures the vibrant life within our building, reminds us of the importance of community, and shows us the joy it brings.”

His journey into social media began over a decade ago, following his retirement. Initially, Andy managed a page for an antique and collectibles co-op. Tis inspired him to expand his efforts to other local businesses and organizations. One of his favorite efforts is contributing content for the Facebook group, Indulging in Lancaster and Beyond, which highlights dining out across the area. He also provides the content for Lancaster Downtowners Facebook page, using the theme, “Downtowners Around Town.” Andy is driven by his passion for connecting people and promoting local happenings.

Andy aspires to bridge Landis Place on King’s social media presence with the broader West King Street community by fostering collaborations with neighboring organizations to enhance the area’s impact.
