ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 2019/20
The following information relates to qualifi cations on entry (entry requirements) for Maths and English, for those leaving school after Year 11 in summer 2019. For all other qualifi cations on entry please refer to your chosen subject’s individual course information on the Petroc website.
When applying to Petroc, please be aware that we carefully consider your predicted GCSE grades and your performance in relation to these predictions when processing your application.
Entry Level Study Programmes
For all learners joining Entry Level Study Programmes, there are no formal entry requirements. Learners on these programmes will study English and Maths at an appropriate level to suit their ability. Students will have a one-to-one interview to discuss their personal learning needs.
Level 1 Study Programmes
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent or above, preferably including Maths and English. Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 3 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects. At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 1 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
Level 2 Study Programmes
All entrants must hold 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent or above, to preferably include GCSE Maths at grade 3 or above and GCSE English at grade 3 or above. Entrants who do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English will continue studying these subjects. At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next course.
Level 3 Study Programmes
To be accepted onto a two-year Level 3 programme, all entrants must hold at least a grade 4 in GCSE Maths and a grade 4 in GCSE English, as well as at least three other GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above. Certain subjects require a minimum of GCSE grade 6; these are detailed on the Petroc website.
