His deep generational knowledge, combined with a longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship, makes his work a strong example of how regenerative principles can be embedded at origin. Cafeology purchases a significant proportion of Roberto’s annual crop each year,
providing income stability and reinforcing a relationship built on trust, respect and full traceability. Across Roberto’s estates, such
as Las Nubes, which is situated at approximately 1,700 metres (5,577ft) above sea level, practices associated with regeneration are part of the day-to-day management of the land. These include maintaining continuous soil cover, integrating shade from banana plants and poró trees, protecting local water sources and encouraging biodiversity throughout the landscape. Such methods help rebuild soil structure, improve microclimates and enhance ecological resilience, supporting both coffee quality and long-term farm health. The principles of Regenified
help frame and verify this work. By presenting coffees under the Regenified marque, Cafeology provides tangible assurance that improvements on farms like Roberto’s can be measured, monitored and communicated clearly to customers across the UK. Cafeology’s responsibility
continues through the rest of the supply chain. The opening of the Roastology Eco roastery in Sheffield in 2016 gave the business full oversight from green bean to finished product.
