Hotel Belvedere GRINDELWALD, SWITZERLAND
At the heart of the Jungfrau Region, Hotel Belvedere occupies a privileged position above the village of Grindelwald, where uninterrupted views stretch across the Bernese Alps to the legendary north face of the Eiger. Family-run for four generations, the four-star hotel balances Alpine tradition with contemporary comfort, offering a base from which to explore one of Switzerland’s most dramatic mountain landscapes. The name Belvedere, meaning ‘beautiful view’,
has defined the property since its opening in 1907. Today, all 56 individually designed rooms and suites are oriented to maximise views of the surrounding scenery, with most featuring private balconies overlooking either the Eiger or the hotel’s landscaped garden and the Wetterhorn beyond. Thoughtful details such as box-spring beds, a curated pillow menu and climate-controlled interiors ensure rest, while warm woods and nature-inspired tones echo the Alpine setting. Public spaces are designed to draw the eye
outwards. The lounge, known as the Stuba, opens onto expansive windows framing the mountain
panorama, with soft seating arranged around a modern vapour fireplace that creates the atmosphere of a traditional hearth. In warmer months, the sun terrace becomes a great place for evening dining and aperitifs. Wellbeing at Hotel Belvedere is intimate and
carefully considered. The wellness area includes an indoor swimming pool, Finnish sauna, glacier steam bath and a family-friendly heat tunnel, alongside experience showers offering ice mist or tropical rain. Outdoors, the saltwater whirlpool set within the garden remains heated year-round, allowing guests to soak while taking in the views. Cuisine is a defining pillar of the Belvedere
experience. The Michelin-starred 1910 Gourmet by Hausers presents refined, regional fine dining inspired by the hotel’s history and the culinary traditions of the early 20th century, when ingredients were sourced exclusively from the surrounding region. The more relaxed Belvedere Restaurant complements this with classic Swiss dishes and international favourites, including house-speciality steak tartare prepared tableside.
