Design Flexibility, Metallurgical Integrity Make Investment Casting Only Manufacturing Choice for Aircraft Manifold

Design flexibility and

metallurgical (Grade B) in- tegrity were major require- ments when determining how to manufacture a complex manifold for an aircraft exchanger.

The customer considered investment casting the only way to produce this complex casting featuring a light weight, compact, intricate shape with high strength and dimensional integrity. Cast by O’Fallon Casting, the aluminum aircraft manifold was a finalist in an Investment Casting Institute casting contest.
