n April, the Upfront and Commercial Pop club charts were simultaneously topped by Calvin Harris & Rag’N’Bone Man’s Lovers In A Past

Life. Four weeks on, both charts are aligned again, with Outside Of Love by Becky Hill ahead of NS Boulevard’s Boy You Gotta on Upfront and Olly Alexander’s Eurovision hope Dizzy on the Pop list. Serviced in an original house mix, an unattributed

rave mix and a drum’n’bass mix from Skepsis, Outside Of Love is the fourth single from Hill’s upcoming second album Believe Me Now?, due for release at the end of this month. All four singles have topped the Commercial Pop chart, with two reaching the Upfront summit. Last year saw the set’s first single – Lewis Thompson collaboration Side Effects – go top on Pop, without making the Upfront chart, while Disconnect (feat. Chase & Status) was also a Pop topper, reaching No.3 Upfront. Two months ago, Never Be Alone reached both summits for Hill and Sonny Fodera. In total, Hill has now had six Upfront and 13

Becky Hill celebrates double No.1 ANALYSIS

Commercial Pop No.1s. Although she has more than twice as many Pop No.1s as Upfront, her first No.1 club hit was an Upfront one, Gecko (Overdrive), a collaboration with Oliver Heldens which was No.1 10 years ago next month. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album sampler

is relieved of its Black Music crown by Aya Nakamura’s Hypé. Recently No.2 on the French singles chart, it has been released in two versions, the second of which is a remix with added vocals from Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr, which has been serviced to DJs. It is Nakamura’s first Black Music No.1, and Starr’s second, one year since the first, Sability (sic).
