Aspire Awards to raise vital funds for meningitis charity


Aspire will call on the generosity of the luxury travel sector as it looks to raise money for its chosen charity, Meningitis Now. The UK-based organisation is dedicated to fighting meningitis, an inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. There are many different causes of meningitis, but the two most-common organisms are viruses and bacteria. The disease can affect anyone of any age and can cause long-term effects.


Meningitis Now has invested more than £12 million in early-stage research, which has played a critical role in the


introduction of five life-saving vaccines. Its vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives. Aspire editor Hollie-Rae Brader said: “Meningitis Now is a charity close to my heart. In April I gave birth to my son, Theo (pictured), and at seven weeks old he was diagnosed with meningitis. It was the scariest time of my life, but we were one of the lucky ones as Theo has since made a full recovery. “I hope sharing Theo’s story will help


increase awareness of the symptoms of meningitis and that we’ll raise lots of money on the night for a brilliant cause.”
