C R U I S E CLIA CONFERENCE PREVIEW Conference ‘is top event for cruise learning’

Clia to host 450 agents at Southampton event

Some 450 agents have signed up for the annual Clia UK & Ireland cruise conference in Southampton on May 23-25. The annual event, now in its

12th year, continues to grow in popularity, with 70% of places snapped up in the first week the conference went on sale. Over the course of three days, agents will be able to discuss business with cruise lines and suppliers at a trade fair, listen to keynote speakers and tour Princess Cruises’ Royal Princess. About half the delegates will additionally be hosted on Oceania Cruises’ Marina - Harmer said numbers were limited because the cruise line

wanted agents to get the proper guest experience – while up to 50 who signed up for an optional day on May 26 will get their first glimpse of Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Silhouette. Clia director Andy Harmer said the conference had become the top date in the cruise calendar for learning and networking. “The main theme of the

conference is #GenerationCruise, although it will also be touching on new technology,” Harmer said. “Thanks to the incredible number of new ships being delivered to Clia cruise lines over the next few years, there is a mind-boggling array of itineraries. There really is a cruise for every generation.”
