Advances in technology reduce set-up and turnaround times

Take the next step in bending

Now available with a mobile automation module, the Xpert 40 press brake is the next evolutionary step in the field of bending, says Bystronic. In production, the form, size,

Exhibiting once again at Northern Manufacturing & Electronics, Amada will show advances in both standalone press brake technology, automated press brake technology and supporting software, that have “vastly reduced” daily set-up times, with rapid turnaround between jobs. Built on the solid foundation of

the HFE series, the HFE3i 1003 press brake includes additional production-enhancing features and an innovative touchscreen AMNC 3i interface. An 18.5-inch multi- touch display offers multiple modes of data entry (angle, depth, 2D and 3D) for programming flexibility. A user-friendly graphic interface and tool library assist operators in the quick set-up of complicated parts. Also on the stand will be the HG-

ATC. The company engineered this for variable lot sizes and difficult

tool layouts. The automatic tool changer (ATC) can load even the most complex tool layout within three minutes, and allows operators of varied experience levels to efficiently use this bending system. The company’s software meets

challenges of today’s global environment, where companies are facing the competitive challenge of analysing and converting engineering data into business- critical information for a faster time to market. The software enables customers to collect and easily access large volumes of data. There is a suite of software products available that is integrated and focused on applications for the sheet metal industry.

Prototype machines meet R&D and education needs

and number of parts that are to be bent varies. A central goal is always to produce these parts as quickly and cost-effectively as possible, the requirements placed on a modern bending system are to adapt to this variety, help the user to produce quickly, automate as many processing steps as possible while providing the possibility to work manually when required. The Mobile Bending Cell

provides an answer to all of these requirements. The technology

Connector and cabling is bespoke

Providing a design, manufacture and stocking service to manufacturing and installation markets, CIE Connectivity offers bespoke connector and cabling solutions for customers’ requirements and projects. The connectivity team is

committed to fully understanding the individual needs of each customer and to providing exemplary service and the highest quality cable and connector products. As well as a significant UK stock holding of professional connector products from companies such as Switchcraft and EDAC, it also offers Custom Connectivity service and supply. Using a global network of sourcing,

supply and manufacturing partners, the division of CIE works closely with customers to fully understand each project, to ensure that the solution delivers on-specification, on-time and on-budget.

With over 40 years’ experience of selling engineering machinery, Axminster Tools & Machinery selects the best manufacturers with which to work, so that customers can be certain of the reliability, availability and serviceability of its range of machines. The company is continually

enlarging and updating its range of metalworking tools and machinery. Recently, it has developed the Axminster CNC Technology range. Working closely with manufacturing partner Sieg, this is a core range of CNC metalworking mills and lathes that fill an important niche in the market, the company believes. The machines are manufactured in high- grade cast iron, giving a stable and absorbing platform. All are supplied with software which is compatible with Windows 7, 10, XP and Vista. At this year’s Northern

Manufacturing & Electronics, the company will showcase some

exciting products. On display will be its own brand machines, including Axminster CNC Technology Series iKX3 mill and iKC6 lathe, together with a range of pillar drills from the Axminster Engineer Series SB- 16, SB-25, SB-250 and SB-25-TC. All are suitable for prototype and light engineering, small production workshops and component makers, fabrication works for testing, R&D and the education sector including university technical colleges. The company also has exclusivity

in the UK for the Jet Elite range of mills, lathes and bandsaws. These efficient and powerful machines offer precision, durability and safety which widely exceeds market standards, claims the company.

Specialising in the design and manufacture of pressure transducers and pressure transmitters, ESI Technology was established in 1985, and focuses on specialist applications using sensing technologies such as an innovative silicon-on-sapphire strain gauge. The team is able to analyse

and interpret customer specific requirements and create a product that meets - and often exceeds - the exact needs of the application in order to eradicate any compromise from the customer. The most outstanding

developments from the company are the silicon-on-sapphire sensor technology and the new GD4200-

USB digital pressure transducer. Silicon-on-sapphire sensor technology has redefined the performance capability of pressure measurement instrumentation in the industry, says the company. It demonstrates excellent insulation properties, performance with

behind the bending cell is the Xpert 40 and bending robotics - a combination between fast press brake and mobile automation. Users process large series with the automatic bending mode, yet can also manually bend small series and individual parts whenever necessary. This bending automation system

provides users with a great deal of freedom for varying order situations. Using the plug-and-bend principle, means that the compact Xpert 40 can be set up and put into operation in virtually any environment, claims the company. If required, it can also quickly be moved to another location. The mobile automation solution seamlessly interfaces with

the Xpert 40. Users can set up the robotics system on the Xpert 40 in just a few minutes. When not in use, the bending robotics can simply be moved to one side.

Demonstrations show barcode and mobile computing technology

The latest in mobile data capture technology to increase efficiency throughout an enterprise will be showcased on the Dakota Integrated Solutions stand. The company offers industrial wireless local area network (WLAN) access points for high-speed connectivity in industrial environments. It also provides a no-obligation consultation service to help specify the most suitable wireless infrastructure for a premises. The company’s team is trained to link WLAN technology into existing warehouse management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Visitors will also see hardware

products for barcode scanning and printing applications, including direct part marking barcode scanners. The company can help a customer specify the right technology for the right environment (goods in/goods out, pick/pack and put-away, stock- control, inventory management). Mobile carts (pictured) consisting of an integrated touchscreen,

barcode scanner and barcode printer on a trolley are also available. There are also industrial barcode labelling solutions, including custom design labels for bespoke label applications. Other options are voice picking

solutions, achieving time savings through reduction in manual data entry. For stock control, there is the Smart-Code package already in use by SMEs looking at improving their stock management processes and looking to take pen and paper out of their inventory management. The company also offers mobile applications for delivery workers.
