When a student has an accommodation enquiry
What should you be aware of?
Students may have problems associated with accommodation such as eviction, harassment by landlord, domestic issues and financial difficulties. There are a wide range of accommodation options to suit different needs, lifestyles and budgets. The two main services available to assist students with accommodation enquiries are the Accommodation Team and Student Welfare Advice Team.
What should you do?
Student requires long-term accommodation
If a student requires long-term accommodation, please refer the student to the Accommodation Team:

The three main types of accommodation available to students are:
Halls of Residence:
Usher Hall, Ivy Hall, Platt Hall, Writtle House and Unite Olympic Way.

Student requires emergency accommodation
If an enrolled student has nowhere to reside and mentions that they require emergency accommodation, please refer them to the Short Stay Accommodation guide:
http://www.mdx.ac.uk/life-at-middlesex/accommodation
The student would need to book the short stay accommodation and then call the Accommodation Team the next day to find out whether there are any rooms available for long-term stay.
During Welcome Week when students first arrive, if they have no accommodation please send them directly to Usher Hall, Hendon, The Burroughs (Please see campus map on p75). This is staffed by a Security Officer/Duty Officer who will provide accommodation for one night only.
If the student is vulnerable (i.e. registered disabled, under 18 years of age or in receipt of care for an enduring medical condition (including mental health condition) please contact the Security Team on 020 8411 6200 and ask for a Designated Safeguarding Officer (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) or if out of office hours, let the Security Team know of your concerns.
You can report your concern about the student’s vulnerability at: Cause4Concern@mdx.ac.uk
