LONDON BUILD SHOW PREVIEW 31

Advanced offers Fire Safety Guidance Marmox Thermoblocks offer warm support

With both an energy and a housing crisis looming large across the UK, it is appropriate that Marmox has opted to dedicate its stand H52 at this year’s London Build Show – to showcasing a product offering a ready solution for the issue of thermal bridging. Well proven in practice, Marmox Thermoblocks are widely recognised by specifi ers as providing a means of achieving compliance with Part L, by addressing the challenges of cold-bridging at the fl oor/ wall junction or beneath parapet walls. In fact the growing emphasis on improving energy effi ciency as well as the speed and quality of construction is making Thermoblock mainstream for both traditional and modern methods of building. Thermoblocks are available in widths of 100, 140 or 215 mm and are formed from sections of XPS (extruded polystyrene) encapsulating two rows of high strength, epoxy concrete mini-columns.

The company will be offering visitors guidance on how Advanced’s systems fi t into the recent amendments to Part B (Fire Safety) of the Building Regulations which come into effect on 1st December 2022. The company will also be showcasing its latest evacuation alert and fi re safety solutions. The amended Approved Document B of the Building Regulations was published in June 2022 and offers improvements to fi re safety guidance to ensure tall buildings are made safer in England. This includes the ‘signifi cant’ addition to the document of the mandatory requirement for new residential developments over 18 m to incorporate a BS 8629 evacuation alert system. Advanced welcomes these improvements and will be on hand at London Build to help those involved in the design or construction of residential developments to explain the changes relating to evacuation alert systems and to give guidance on how to comply.
