Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has announced the promotion of 55 people across its team in the Central South, including one promotion to partner.


Effective from 1st November, James Newman has been promoted to partner in the firm’s Central South audit practice. Since joining BDO as a graduate trainee in 2004 and qualifying in 2007, James has spent time working closely with clients in a range of sectors with particular expertise working with growing mid-market and


private equity backed businesses.”


BDO has also promoted more than 35 others in its Central South audit practice with other promotions across its tax and advisory teams.


Surrey Research Park, a centre of excellence in technology, science, health and engineering in Guildford, has appointed technology venture capitalist and innovation leader Isabel Fox as its new Chair of the Board.


Isabel is a General Partner of Outsized Ventures, an early-stage deep-tech VC fund. She is also a main Council Member at Innovate UK and Senior Adviser to Oxford Sciences Innovation.


Isabel replaces Sally Howes, who chaired the Surrey Research Park Board for three years, prior to becoming Chair of Council at the University of East Anglia.

The Southampton office of national law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has expanded with a series of new joiners across several practice areas.


Greg Goodman re-joins from Blake Morgan. He is a senior associate in the Commercial Property team with experience in all areas of commercial property. Associate Ariaan Wilson has also been appointed to the team. He joins from George Ide and brings a wide range of experience.


In the commercial and private client litigation team, Chris Hawkes joins as a solicitor, having recently qualified with a regional Hampshire firm.


Several paralegals have also been appointed including Joe Wheeler (pictured left) in the corporate and commercial team and Krishnan Pillay (pictured right) and Megan Rusca (pictured centre) in the commercial property team.

joins Lee Baron with a wealth of experience, having spent 10 years working for The Berkeley Group where he was head of estates at St George West London for four years and head of customer service and estates at St George City.


At Lee Baron, Daniel will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s property management mandates for clients.


Property consultancy Vail Williams has appointed a new senior surveyor to bolster its expanding Gatwick region.


Based in Crawley, commercial property agent Mikael Goldsmith (pictured left) will work across the firm’s business space sector, particularly on office and industrial disposals. He joins from Brighton-headquartered regional agent, Flude Property Consultants’ Chichester office and was previously with Sussex agency Michael Jones in Worthing.


Mikael is reunited in Crawley with Gatwick-based Partner Steve Berrett (pictured right), who also used to work at Michael Jones and joined Vail Williams in February.


Other recent Gatwick region hires have included senior planner Iain Williams, senior surveyor Jason Kidd and associate Derek Moore.
