aggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet is the independent bookseller bestseller for the year to
date, from mid-March, when Nielsen BookScan began reporting figures again, up to 5th June 2021. The author’s first historical title has been a literary blockbuster. Published just as lockdown first hit in March 2020, Hamnet’s hardback was one of the few new entries into the Top 50 across Lockdown 1.0. With bookshop brows- ing impossible, many spring 2020 publica- tion dates scrapped and older titles, such
