ECONOMIC INDICATORS


Retail Sales Retail sales for the Ardmore-area remain strong through the end of November. Monthly sales came in at $50.2 million, a 6.36% increase over November 2017 when sales totaled $47.2 million. Year-to-date sales look even better. At the end of November sales for the year totaled $558.3 million, an 8.5% increase compared to YTD November 2017 when sales totaled $514.5 million. The addition of new restaurants and retail should provide continued growth with sales tax revenue.


Building Permits


A total of 701 building permits, valuing $63.5 million, were issued by the City of Ardmore through the month of November. For the same period in 2017, a total of 614 permits, valuing $31.5 million were issued. These numbers reflect signifigant growth throughout Ardmore.


Carter County Unemployment


October county-wide unemployment remained low at 3.1% or 698 persons. This is a significant decrease from October 2017 when the unemployment rate was 4.4% or 901 persons.
