The United Nations Member States’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2015. Those Goals recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in- hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth. They explicitly seek to balance social, economic and environmental stability and prioritise progress for those who are furthest behind.
