Columbia Helicopters Selects SKYTRAC Flight Data Monitoring: Complete HFDM package includes real-time analytics and satellite-based FDM data downloads


Columbia Helicopters, a leader in heavy-lift helicopter operations for commercial and government services, has selected SKYTRAC Flight Data Monitoring to improve real time awareness on their Chinook 234 missions.


The SKYTRAC solution features real-time analysis of engine exceedances and operational deviations. The system also uses SKYTRAC’s Satellite Data Download feature to offload full flight logs on landing. Columbia will benefit from fast and reliable access to critical information while minimizing FDM data retrieval effort and speeding analysis times.


A cockpit camera assembly adds additional FDM analysis capabilities with the option for recording flight deck console activity.


SKYTRAC also supports Columbia Helicopters with real- time voice and text, automated flight following services and cockpit WiFi.


“SKYTRAC has delivered a true one-stop solution to Columbia with real-time FDM services, comprehensive flight data analysis, and flight following, voice and text solutions. All this is offered through a single, lightweight data acquisition unit to deliver the optimal performance at optimal cost,” said SKYTRAC VP Sales Jan van der Heul.

FAA Awards Another STC to AKV ETM1000


AKV, Inc. has received FAA STC approval for their ETM1000 on the Bell 206B/L series and Bell 407 helicopters.


The


B206B/L and 407 have been added to the existing Approved Model List (AML) previously FAA and EASA approved for the AS350, including the Bell UH-1, 204, 205, 210, and 214.


The ETM1000 Exceedance and Trend Monitor is an engine data acquisition unit (EDAU) that provides legacy operators with a highly effective and affordable means to monitor and record all drive- train


parameters for exceedances as


well as trending purposes. The ETM1000 has proven its effectiveness in reducing unscheduled maintenance costs

associated with many types of operations. The ETM1000 is programmed with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM) operating limitations and includes panel-mounted pushbutton annunciators that provide caution and warning indication to the pilot. Configurable alert tones are provided to the pilot when operating in close proximity to takeoff and transient limits, in addition to


configurable pre-caution parameters


for each of the recordable signals that can provide earlier warnings if desired. The ETM1000 also has a dedicated power- check pushbutton along with system health indication.


The ETM1000 is designed and priced as a turnkey kit that includes the airframe wire harness, custom graphing, trending software, and programming cables with no yearly contract fees. It is also compatible


with third-party systems such as Latitude Technologies’ IONode, ION100, and Lightweight FDR.


Future additions are planned for the Robinson R22, R44, R66, and MD line of helicopters.
