Inspiration from the nation

@missoxendaleeyfs @mrsp_ks1_eyfs

Teachers and practitioners unite! We’ve been on the lookout once again

for more fantastic ideas from Instagram creators across the nation. This time, we were searching for inspirational activities to help nurture the

development of early communication and language skills. Here are some of our favourites.

Create your own Supertato

“We’ve decided to start the half term with one of my favourite stories to teach… Supertato! It gives the children such a hook into their learning, and we’ve spent the whole day looking out for Evil Pea. The children really enjoyed this, and we had such a variety of outcomes as we allowed the children to lead this themselves with the resources we gave them.”

What you’ll need:

• 303941 - Wiggle Eyes • 307788 - Felt Squares • 716472 - YPO Glue Sticks (Pack of 10)

• 313327 - Plastic Handles School Scissors (Pack of 10)

• 309848 - Assorted Pipe Cleaners (Pack of 50)

• 801659 - Play Tray (Black) • Potatoes!

Phonics fishing

“This activity has been so popular, it will definitely be a regular setup for us. Each cardboard fish had a word on it and a small paper clip on the nose. The game was to use the fishing rod to catch the fish and read the word pulled out. I plan on doing this with different number representations next, which can be sorted into the correct net once caught!”

What you’ll need:

• 112712 - Recycled Coloured Card • 810791 - Desk Top Sand & Water Tray • 876736 - Sprat Fishing Game
