This edition is themed around ‘The Great Outdoors’. The benefits of outdoor learning for children are so vast, but where to start and what opportunities and ideas are out there? We’ve provided some advice, tips and insight to inspire and support you.
Our regular ‘Diary of’ feature is by Paula Michaud, outdoor learning subject leader at St Chads C of E Primary School. Paula discusses the different outdoor learning that takes place in her school, and how this has a positive impact on children’s learning, motivation, involvement and wellbeing. You can read the article on pages 6–7.
We’re delighted to have Oak Forest School involved in this edition. Hear all about ‘A week in the life’ of Outdoor Manager, Melv Mills, as he talks about how they work with children and young people in the outdoors. See pages 12–13.
Looking for outdoor play and inclusion ideas for after school clubs? Then make sure you check out pages 14–15, as Dale Spencer from KeyPE Sports provides some ideas and inspiration.
Don’t miss our fantastic competition on the back page, to win a YPO Playtime Resource Kit worth £155!
We hope you enjoy the magazine! Our next edition will be out in the autumn.
