IBI was able to respond effectively to comments that related to development within the Camberwell Grove Conservation Area, with the approved design complementing that of adjacent Victorian and Georgian housing, and the nearby Grade II-listed Denmark Hill Thameslink railway station.
Brickwork carefully selected The Centre’s brickwork has been selected to complement other recently constructed buildings on campus, and to the south of Denmark Hill Station, as well as linking to the adjacent Douglas Bennett House (currently under construction) and the Conservation Area. It is at the heart of the hospital campus public realm and landscape architecture plan, which creates an active, healthy site linking existing woodland to the east, and a future public square to the west. In line with the Mayor of London’s
Spatial Development Strategy, the materials used reflect the architectural integrity of the building through its projected lifespan, while requiring minimal maintenance, and providing clues for future building development within the hospital. The Centre’s development has been
