of processing different PET feedstocks without upstream material drying while maintaining maximum energy efficiency, finally settling on a Gneuss MRS 110 extruder with a throughput of up to 600 kg/h. At the heart of the Gneuss system is the patent- ed Multi Rotation System (MRS) technology. Multiple satellite screws significantly increase the melt surface area, enabling highly efficient devola- tilisation and decontamination of the melt. As a result, virgin resin, bottle flakes, and in-house production regrind, can all be processed without the need for energy-intensive pre-drying. A gravimetric dosing system allows different material streams to be blended while a Gneuss RSFgenius rotary filtration system continuously removes solid contaminants from the melt, ensuring consistently high sheet quality. Czech packaging specialist Unipack has
recently modernised its polyester strapping tape production line by replacing an older, existing extruder with a Gneuss Omni extrusion system. The new system has been operating successfully since the beginning of 2026, delivering higher produc- tion output, significantly more stable processes,
and noticeable energy savings. Unipack, which produces PP and PO strapping tape, has continu- ously expanded its production capacities in recent years and installed the setup – consisting of a four-component dosing system, an MRS 90 extruder, a 25 mbar vacuum unit, an RSFgenius melt filtration system, a VIS online viscometer, melt pump, and strapping die – as part of a modernisa- tion project. As feedstock, the company mainly processes coloured PET bottle flakes that are typically not suitable for bottle-to-bottle recycling. “With the new Gneuss technology, we do not
need expensive material preparation. With a residence time of 5-6 hours, we are able to monitor the viscosity of the material online and, most importantly, thanks to excellent filtration, we have stable production without unnecessary interrup- tions,” said Project Manager Dušan Rejthar. “Our productivity has increased and the amount of waste has decreased from 7% to 3%.”
Pakistan development PET producer Novatex has invested in a new Starlinger bottle-to-bottle recycling system, able to produce up to 24,000 tonnes/yr. Novatex sources
