This melt can either be repelletised to a standard polymer or upgraded in an additional compounding step.” In June, Bandera held an online event for customers called Bandera Plastic Week, at which it presented its Revotech recycling technology, along with film extrusion technology. Revotech leader Andrea Carraro said Bandera’s twin-screw co-rotat- ing extruder has been long established in the market. He said that in recycling, this can be a single extruder installation or a double extruder cascade set-up, both for recycling of polyolefins and also food-contact PET recycling, for which it got EFSA and FDA approval four years ago. Flat Die and Recycling Technology, said at the event that the Revotech Tandem cascade line is a double twin-screw co-rotating configuration. The system is designed for upcycling highly contami- nated post-consumer material. It is able to mini- mise shear and thermal stress thanks to the extrusion screw profiles and multiple long-lasting degassing stages. The primary extruder melts,


degasses and filters twice (up to 80 microns contamination). The melt is then fed to the second- ary extruder where additives can be blended to fulfil specific customer needs. Murano said: “The secondary twin-screw


extruder performs additional degassing for the extraction of VOCs generated by the previous filtration in which solid contaminants such as paper and food can burn and generate undesired products. Moreover, the two-stage degassing process dramatically reduces ink and solvent contaminants.” He said: “The machine can work with several polymers such as LDPE, HDPE, PP and many others, reaching any market expectation and exceeding the quality obtained by single-screw cascade configurations.” Another presenter at the event, Matteo Calloni,
