AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS | MACHINERY

featured individual, servo-electrically controlled valve gate nozzles and had a rotary unit with an integrated servo motor. Innovative index technology helped to cut the cycle time compared to conventional mould concepts, it says. A six-axis robot mounted on the injection moulding machine re- moved finished housing parts with the mould closed. The compact automation solution from Saxe included optical quality control and a production-ready solution for automatically changing the containers. The handling system was also fully integrated into the Axos control system of the moulding machine. Thermal parameters such as flow and return temperatures and the water flow rate in the mould were recorded and monitored in real time via the Mouldflo water distributors integrated into the mould mounting platen.

Live demo Shibaura Machine showcased a range of robotic solutions for injection moulding applications during K2025. A feature of its exhibit was an automated

production cell, where a TVM900 6-axis robot integrated with an EC75SXIII injection moulding machine. This live demonstration showcased real-time production of business card cases. The SXIII series is an all-electric lineup of injection moulding machines designed for high- speed, energy-efficient operation. With 16 different models, it features the V70 controller for smooth integration, optimised cycle times and enhanced productivity. The injection moulding machine will collaborate with the TVM900 robot – which has a 900mm reach and 20kg payload capacity. Shibaura also showed its TV1000 6-axis robot. With a 1,000mm reach and 10kg payload capacity, it is used in material handling, assembly, machine

tending and packaging applications. Complementing this, the RoboPrint printing

head transferred logos and designs onto the moulded plastic parts, showing the potential of robotic integration for speed and efficiency. “Robotic integration in injection mould-

ing is transforming the industry,” said Nigel Smith, managing director of TM Robotics, which distributes Shibaura products in Europe. “By automating repetitive tasks, manufacturers can meet rising demand while maintaining consistent quality for a faster return on investment.”
