European Union classifies titanium dioxide as inhalation carcinogen
The EU moved last month to classify TiO2
as a category 2
suspected carcinogen by inhalation under its classifi- cation, labelling and packaging (CLP) regulation of substances and mixtures. The move follows an opinion from the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This has been consistently challenged by the Titanium Dioxide Manufacturers Association (TDMA), which argues that it was not based on new scientific evidence or understanding of

It predicted this will open the door to various interpretations. “The EU’s decision will apply on 9 September 2021 and the time until then will be needed to attempt to address ambiguities created by the text,” said TDMA. �
