news NAVAIS: modular ship design Asia Pacific
Maritime, March 18-20
MARIN will be present at the APM in Singapore. Come and see us within the Holland Pavilion of Netherlands Maritime Technology in Hall E.
The NAVAIS project, which is funded through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, develops modular product families for ships based on generic platforms for each ship type. This approach increases the efficiency of the vessel design process and flexibility in production networks. NAVAIS supports the transfer from an engineered-to-order business model to an assemble-to-order business model. NAVAIS focuses specifically on passenger/road ferries and multi-use workboats and has a strong emphasis on ships being designed with
sustainability in mind. MARIN is contributing to the hydrodynamic designs for both ship types, to the electric propulsion system of the ferry and to the overall reduction of the environmental impact of these ships, including underwater radiated noise. See
www.navais.eu for more information.

Maritime Industry, May 12-14
There is also a chance to meet us at the Maritime Industry event held in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. Visit us to discuss the broad range of services we offer to the inland shipping industry.
Joint forum The Future of Ocean Energy & Shipping
In 2020, the FPSO Research Forum and Blue Forum will take place in the Netherlands, from May 25-29. It is no coincidence that we have decided to organise these two important events at the same location and during the same week. They will both take place on the ss Rotterdam with their own discussion groups, seminars and JIP meetings during the week. However, on Wednesday May 27 we are holding a joint
forum because we recognise the importance of working together to build and shape the future of ocean energy and shipping. We hope this challenging setting will help us all look forward with confidence and take on our responsibilities as future makers! For the detailed programme and registration of both events and the joint forum, see
www.fpsoforum.com and
www.blueforum.org.
