Two MARIN student projects presented at international conferences papers

After performing their Bachelor projects at and in cooperation with MARIN, two student groups have presented their conclusions at the OMAE and ISOPE conferences.

The first project considered propeller-ice interaction, where the ice was replaced by an alternative material. The influence of ice density and crushing strength on the propeller loads were investigated amongst other factors (ref. papers OMAE2014-23447 and 23448). The second project considered resistance tests in a pre-sawn ice channel, and the ice was again replaced by an alter- native. Based on the Lindqvist formulation a comparison could be made with existing data for similar cases.

MARIN offers a wide selection of papers and doctoral theses in the field of hydrodynamics on its website at www.marin.nl.

The most recent publications include:

Analysis of U-Type Anti-Roll Tanks using URANS. Sensitivity and Validation Kerkvliet, M., Vaz, G., Carette, N., Gunsing, M., OMAE, San Francisco, CA, 2014

Open Day November 8

This year MARIN will again open its doors to the public. From 09.30 until 17.00 hrs on Saturday November 8 over 100 MARIN employees will be ready to introduce you to the world of model testing and hydrody- namics. Throughout the day interactive demonstrations will take place in all the testing facilities. See www.marin.nl/openday for the latest update.
