Cows’ comfort equals happy farmers

The foundation of high milk production is a happy and comfortable dairy cow. For animal welfare purposes, it’s not uncommon to see cow brushes at dairy farms. Studies have found that cow brushes improve animal welfare by increasing blood circulation and overall performance. In one study, swinging cow brushes were asso- ciated with, for example, higher milk production and lower occurrence of mastitis. Erik Pel, commercial director at Comfy, says, “There are many options available, like ones targeted for smaller groups as well as options for outside around the barn and when cows are in pasture.” Other options on the market also come with an appara- tus to treat skin disorders. A happy cow equals a happy farmer!
