INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY: YOUTH IN ACTION October 12, 1 p.m. EST A panel discussion, “Youth in Action: Conver- sations about Our Future,” will address how our memories of the past inform and influ- ence the current racial and social landscape. Hear from young Native activists who are ad- dressing the tensions among history, memory and current social justice movements across the United States. A musical performance by hip-hop artist Frank Waln (Sicangu Lakota) will follow the conversation.
DAY OF THE DEAD (DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS) October 31 and November 1, 2 p.m. EST Learn the customs of Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) from NMAI research specialist Cynthia Vidaurri. Then, make paper marigolds with Evelyn Orantes (Quiche Maya) and Joaquin Newman (Yaqui/ Mexica) and join Chef Neftali Duran (Mixte- co) on a culinary journey through the feasting associated with this day of celebration.

NATIVE CINEMA SHOWCASE November 18–27 The museum’s annual celebration of the best in Native film, now in its 20th year, will present more than 65 new films as well as fan favorites online. It will also offer a unique opportunity to engage with Native filmmakers and hear stories from Indigenous communities.
