What’s your proudest moment and your biggest regret? My proudest? Hopefully, the World Air Cargo Award I’ll receive one day. My biggest regret? Possibly not receiving a World Air Cargo Award. NICOLAS SIMONS Founder of EZ Cargo BY Anastasiya SIMSEK

Nicolas Simons is the founder of EZ Cargo, a logistics company based just a stone’s throw from Liège Airport (LGG). At 38, he represents a new generation of entrepreneurs who build with instinct, boldness and pragmatism. With no traditional academic background, he learned everything on the ground, turning each experience into a growth opportunity. In March 2025, he became a father for the first time - a new chapter, just as exciting as the others.

How did you get into airfreight/logistics? By chance. I started working night shifts for an airline’s trucking department.

What quote has most resonated with you? “At the end, I win. If I didn’t win, it’s not the end yet.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? There are many: Don’t speak first—listen. Don’t let fear control your next move.

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done? Travelling the world and working as a bartender from age 15 to 25, and starting a company in the airfreight industry with only 12K and turning it into a multimillion-dollar business in less than a decade.

Looking back over your career, what would your message be to someone considering a career in logistics? Go for it, you will meet people and cultures from all over the world. Every day is different, and you might find yourself working with large sums of money.

How do you motivate your team? Everybody has a project for themselves. Find it and align it with the company’s project.

What is the one item you can’t travel without? My phone.

Who is your role model? I don’t really have one. I’ve gained valuable insights from many different people.

What would your autobiography be called? Chapter 3: Live for Business

Cats or dogs? Dogs.

Early riser or night owl? Early riser.
