upply chain disruptions are a costly reality for businesses, with the average large company incurring an annual US$184 million in losses. A staggering 87 percent of supply chain leaders report a lack of end-to-end visibility, a critical gap that hampers operational efficiency and risk management. “After 15 years in logistics and supply chain management, I’ve seen


firsthand how visibility issues create 99.9 percent of the problems we face,” Stuart Tatters, Global Commercial Solutions Lead at Track Genius, said. “Traditional tracking solutions offer only generic information


about planes, trains, or trucks. Track Genius goes a step further by tracking individual assets, providing visibility and peace of mind for businesses.” What sets the Track Genius label apart, according to Tatters, is its


unique combination of features: compact size, cost efficiency, and long battery life. “The magic lies in the product’s technology,” he explained. “Our


collaboration with Sony Semiconductors has enabled us to deliver a device that’s not only powerful but also environmentally friendly.” Unlike traditional trackers, the Track Genius label eliminates the


need for return logistics, reducing its environmental impact. “An independent study confirmed its eco-friendliness. There’s no need to ship the label back, which significantly cuts down on carbon emissions,” added Tatters. Using cellular and GPS technology, the Track Genius label provides


real-time updates on an asset’s location and condition. “It’s like having a mobile phone embedded in a card,” Tatters noted.


“The label connects to cellular networks like Vodafone and AT&T and even to satellites via AGPS. Soon, we’ll integrate Wi-Fi capabilities, enabling continuous tracking even in remote areas.” But it’s not just about location tracking. The label also monitors for


shocks, temperature changes, and, soon, humidity levels. “Knowing where your goods are is important, but knowing they’re


safe is critical,” said Tatters. “Bad news can sometimes be as valuable as good news. If there’s an issue, early detection allows for contingency planning and minimises losses.”


Transforming pharmaceutical industries The Track Genius label has proven particularly impactful in industries like pharmaceuticals and high-value electronics. “For pharmaceuticals, maintaining precise temperature conditions is


non-negotiable,” Tatters explained. “Our label, which operates within 0.5 degrees of accuracy, can be


placed directly inside containers, ensuring products stay within required parameters.” Similarly, the aerospace sector benefits from the label’s real-time


visibility. “Engineers waiting on critical parts can now track shipments down to the last mile,” said Tatters. “This reduces downtime and saves costs by avoiding unnecessary delays.” Tatters shared case studies highlighting the label’s impact. “One major


airline saved over US$1 million in its first year using Track Genius by optimising transit costs and ensuring parts were delivered on time,” he said.


“Another client saved 10 percent on stock control by having the right


parts in the right place at the right time.” The utility extends beyond traditional industries. “We recently partnered


with a leading food processor in the EU,” Tatters revealed. “By providing real-time updates on frozen shipments from Australia to


the UK, we’re ensuring food safety and reducing recall risks. This aligns with the global push for farm-to-fork supply chain transparency.” Despite its advantages, implementing visibility solutions globally isn’t


without challenges. “The logistics industry can be quite traditional,” said Tatters. “Getting stakeholders to adopt new technology often involves


convincing multiple departments, from IT to finance and procurement.” Track Genius addresses this by making its solution user-friendly.


“There’s no setup required. You peel and stick the label, and it starts communicating with the network immediately,” Tatters explained. “This simplicity helps overcome resistance to change.”
