of DP World’s expanding European


strategy, as the company prepares to launch freight forwarding operations in Stockholm and Gothenburg in February 2026.


The move builds on DP World’s growing footprint in Europe, where it


operates 10 deep-sea terminals and 14 inland hubs across markets including Germany, Poland and Austria. In the Nordics, the company is leveraging acquisitions such as Unifeeder and FoodTankers to deliver integrated end-to-end supply chain services. The new freight forwarding offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg


are set to open in February 2026, with the aim of giving Swedish importers and exporters direct access to DP World’s global logistics ecosystem, which spans more than 180 business units across 70 countries. This strategic expansion is designed to strengthen Sweden’s


trade corridors with fast-growing markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America, regions where DP World already has a deep operational presence. For Swedish freight forwarders and logistics professionals, it signals an intensification of both competition and collaboration opportunities. “This is the next step in developing and expanding the services DP


World offers to customers in Sweden and across the region,” said Stephen Whittingham, Executive Vice President for North Europe. “Sweden’s culture of innovation, collaboration and sustainability makes it a natural partner for DP World’s next chapter in the Nordics.” The Gothenburg and Stockholm offices will be supported by local


and regional partners, including Foodtankers, a DP World-owned logistics firm with a 70-year legacy in Sweden, as well as Business Sweden, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, and local providers across warehousing, last-mile and pre-carriage services. Both offices will integrate with DP World’s Cargoes digital


platform, enabling seamless Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and streamlined customs clearance for Swedish shippers. “By establishing DP World in Stockholm and Gothenburg, we aim to give regional customers a simpler, faster and more transparent way to move goods around the world,” added Bojan Knightly, Country Manager for Sweden.

DP World enters a competitive market that includes major global


forwarders such as DB Schenker, DSV and DHL, all of whom have established operations in Sweden. In line with DP World’s Net Zero by 2050 target, the Swedish


operation is embedding sustainability from the outset: • Up to 25 percent of shipments will be moved via rail and sea to reduce road freight emissions.


• The offices will adopt 100 percent digital documentation and e-invoicing, fully phasing out paper-based systems.


The company also plans to engage with local education and equality


initiatives through its global Our World, Our Futureprogramme. Partnerships with Swedish organisations such as Transportföretagen and Logistiknätverk Göteborg are being explored to support logistics talent development and sustainability innovation.
