THE role of human expertise in tandem with automation is often overlooked. While technology drives efficiency, it’s the people behind the machines who ensure that innovations are effectively implemented and sustained. Lödige Industries exemplifies this balance between human skill and technological advancement. "We are very much a people-driven company," reflects Nicholas Tripptree,


Managing Director of Asia Pacific at Lödige Industries. "We have great machines and good technology, but without people, we


cannot operate. Our success hinges on the experience, knowledge, and passion of our long-serving employees who are dedicated to making things work." Founded over seven decades ago, Lödige Industries has evolved from a


machinery manufacturer specialising in heavy lifting to a leader in mechanical engineering and automated solutions. These solutions now serve critical sectors such as air cargo and car parking systems. Despite its global footprint, which includes around 1,200 employees


across various continents, Lödige remains committed to the values that have guided it since its early days. "One of our strengths is bringing together our extensive engineering


experience with every new project and requirement in local markets," Tripptree explains. "As an international company, we have retained our German DNA, which is


synonymous with high quality and durability. Our task is to demonstrate that the long-term value of our products justifies the investment." This ability to tailor solutions to meet the specific demands of local


markets, while maintaining the highest standards has been crucial to Lödige's success. Innovation remains at the heart of Lödige’s operations. One of the


company’s most pioneering projects in China is the implementation of the lift-and-run system at Cargo Terminal 4. "It’s the first one in China," Tripptree notes with evident pride. "This system is designed for higher throughput and redundancy, allowing


cargo to move through the terminal quicker and more efficiently." The project represents a significant milestone, not just for Lödige but for the entire logistics sector in China. The company’s collaboration with Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba,


further highlights Lödige's capabilities. "Cainiao needed a solution that could accommodate multiple tenants


with varying requirements. We developed a flexible system that included automation for ULD handling, bin handling, and truck docks, along with customised workstations," Tripptree explains. Another significant


innovation is the introduction of Lödige’s self-


developed Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), which cater to facilities that need efficient long-distance indoor heavy transportation, even across various terminal sections." The AGVs represent our latest innovation," Tripptree shares. "It’s a solution for those who need flexibility and scalability without the


need for a complete overhaul of their existing systems." Lödige Industries is focused on sustaining its growth in the Asia-Pacific


region, where the company has established a strong presence. "We see significant opportunities in the air cargo market, particularly at


airports in China," Tripptree says. "Our car park products are also gaining traction in markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia."
