By land, make sure you make it up to the Belvedere lookout point, where there are lush and gorgeous vistas of Opunohu Bay and Mt. Rotui. My son took tons of pictures there since it is so breathtaking. We also stopped at Marae Titiroa, where marae are linked by a walking track. My son loved this trek through the cool dense forest of chestnut trees that shelter these historical sacred landmarks.
ABOARD SHIP
Life aboard ship fi lled out the experience for our family with beautiful Polynesian shows, gourmet Tahitian and French foods, hands-on crafts, and interesting lectures about the history, culture, and the environment of the region by very knowledgeable speakers. On each voyage, we were blown away by the kindness of the ship’s crew and how especially sweet they were to my son.
It was with heavy hearts that we departed the ship each time. The amazing people and places we visited linger in our hearts and minds, and we are forever changed as a family by our experiences.
So, yes... Tahiti can be for lovers… but it is also most defi nitely for families!
