One of the things I made sure to do my first morning on board the m/s Paul Gauguin was get myself down to the ship’s watersports marina to collect my snorkel gear. They provide all guests with their own snorkel, mask, and fins to keep in their stateroom and use throughout the cruise. I loved this because I knew I was getting clean snorkel equipment that the marina staff made sure fit my head and feet. In addition, I wouldn’t have to wait to pick up snorkel gear every time I wanted to go exploring under the sea.

While picking up the gear, I was able to observe the rest of the marina. It opens out right onto the water and serves as the platform for the dive excursions during the cruise, which I would be utilizing in coming days. It also is home to kayaks, paddleboards, and windsurfers. On days anchored in port, passengers can use these

watercrafts straight from the marina. I marveled at how effortless it was. No lugging heavy equipment down a beach or waiting to check one out. I could just show up during watersport hours, request a kayak or paddleboard and literally be gliding across that glistening water within minutes of leaving my stateroom. I first put my snorkel gear to use in Bora Bora at Paul Gauguin Cruises’ private beach. The tip

Snorkeling is never permitted from the watersports marina. All watersports are weather permitting, in select ports.
