PIONEER Solus Ceramics
This year Solus Ceramics, supplier of architectural wall and floor tiles, launched a new porcelain range inspired from a multitude of different natural stones.
Inspired by traditional European stone, Pioneer interprets a wide variety of diverse natural stones from all over Europe, from sandstone and granite through to marble. A distinctively natural range, Pioneer is a new direction in porcelain style.
The eclectic Pioneer range draws influence from stone traditionally used in the construction industry, particularly materials that capture the memory of an ‘old Europe’.
Some of the colour options within the range include the marble effect ‘Nouvel’, which is a reimagining of white and brown veined Pietra Piasentina, and ‘Eiffel’ that is drawn from typical swiss granite.
Gathered together in a single range, users can explore totally unique effects which, although may seem disparate, are related by the common theme of origin.
A complex and versatile range, Pioneer includes a total of six tile sizes, from typical to large format choices and Natural R10, Grip R12 or Lappata finishes. However, users must check each tile’s technical information as these sizes and finishes are not universal across the entire range.
As with all of Solus Ceramic’s floor ranges, architects and designers can be provided with matching skirting pieces, plinths and steps, meaning complete and elegant schemes can be achieved.

PORCELQUICK ADPED SYSTEM Hampshire Tile Warehouse
The PorcelQuick Adped system has been designed to make installing external porcelain paving tiles quicker and easier. Current installation options for thick porcelain tiles include a wet bed, which is not ideal for flat tiles and narrow joints; or a solid base, which is extremely time consuming and requires a large amount of materials. PorcelQuick is perfect for terraced houses where access is limited, or larger landscaped areas where the carbon footprint is a concern.
To install tiles using the Adped system you first need to prepare a free draining sub base using compacted MOT type 1. You can then mark the points where the Adpeds need to sit and begin installing them – it’s important to check the falls are correct throughout the installation process. Tiles are fixed to the hardened Adpeds using a suitable adhesive, and joints can be grouted by first inserting a length of Grout Backer Rod between the tiles.
Not only will you need to move far less materials to the installation site, but the overall carbon footprint of the patio installation can be reduced by up to 80%. Installation times are shortened, allowing landscapers and tilers to fit more jobs into their busy schedules.
The PorcelQuick Adped system is backed by a 25-year guarantee and the design of the Adped itself is currently patent pending.
