ChairMate® is the first and only non-motorised fire evacuation device on the global market. It overcomes person handling issues that are often experienced with other evacuation chairs. With conventional evacuation chairs it is necessary to lift the person from their wheelchair into the evacuation chair to get them downstairs. The biggest issue with this method is that some users should not be moved from their wheelchair due to their particular medical condition.

At KTP we listened to our clients’ concerns about standard evacuation chairs and designed ChairMate, which enables the safe evacuation of both wheelchair and non-wheelchair users.

One of ChairMate’s key benefits is that the wheelchair user is kept in their chair throughout the process and can remain in it at the safe refuge area outside the building. ChairMate can then be re-used to assist others still in the building.
