BSIF APPEALS FOR REAL-LIFE STORIES ON HOW PPE SAVES LIVES AND PREVENTS INJURIES

The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is calling on workers across the UK to share their real-life experiences of how Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has saved them from serious injury, or even death, while on the job.

PPE plays a crucial role in protecting workers from life- altering injuries and fatalities. It safeguards the body’s most vulnerable areas, including the head, eyes, face, hearing, lungs, hands, and feet, acting as a critical line of defence when hazards cannot be fully eliminated.

JOIN THE PPE SAVES LIVES CAMPAIGN: SHARE YOUR STORY To raise awareness about the critical importance of PPE, BSIF has launched the PPE Saves campaign. They invite workers, employers, and safety professionals to share their personal stories of how PPE has protected them or their colleagues in the workplace.

By sharing real-life experiences, BSIF aims to highlight the life saving power of PPE to encourage PPE compliance, promote a stronger safety culture, and ultimately prevent future accidents.

UNIGLOVES SUCCESSFULLY CERTIFIES AS A B CORPORATION

Hand protection specialist Unigloves has announced its certification as a B Corp, joining a growing community of over 8,000 businesses globally who are reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

B Corp certification is the latest step by Unigloves in its goal to become the world’s most responsible protective glove manufacturer, adding to its membership of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and its attainment of an EcoVadis silver medal.

Certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit organisation behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit, Unigloves was assessed across the entirety of its business’ operations focusing in particular on five key impact areas of: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.

B Corp applicants are required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 demonstrating responsible practices in areas such as energy use, waste and water management, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, Unigloves has legally embedded its commitment to purpose beyond profit in its company articles.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Unigloves to the B Corp community. They join a movement of companies committed to changing how business can operate as a

force for good. We know that Unigloves are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”

News of the B Corp Certification was welcomed by Unigloves UK MD Chris Wahlers. He said: “We are delighted to have achieved B Corp status as part of our wider commitment to our people, planet and our customers. We are continually looking to align our business with the value and expectations of an inclusive and responsible society and B Corp is a further example of our commitment to this. Achieving Silver recognition from EcoVadis is also a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. This prestigious certification reflects our dedication to ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility across our operations.

“These benchmarks really are a sign of our growing ambition to be one of the World’s leading hand protection manufacturers, whilst being equally committed to operating as ethically, sustainably and mindfully as we can,” added Wahlers.
