Hello and welcome to the November/December issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety. For the final edition of this year and what will be my last as editor, I have packed the magazine to the rafters to keep you busy until the New Year.

This month we are looking at vibrations in our HAV section; discussing how to limit the risk and prevent problems associated with prolonged power tool usage. Elsewhere, we are looking after your skin in our Hazardous Substances section, where we will also take you for a trip around a French brewery to learn how they protect their workers during their massive daily cleaning operations.

As we approach Christmas and the twinkly lights go up in your homes and workplaces, it is the ideal time to test your appliances to ensure they are meeting safety standards, so in our Electrical Safety section we have tips on compliance and Personal Appliance Testing. Whilst in our Emergency Evacuations segment, we look at rules and regulations surrounding egress and accessibility; can everyone evacuate quickly and safely?

And last but not least, we have comment on Gas Detection & Monitoring; how to spot leaks and prevent them from occurring and how to protect those working in confined spaces. We also hear from Banyard Solutions’ Simon Olliff in our ‘10 Questions’ as he discusses asbestos-detecting superpowers and dinner with Peter Sellers. Plus we share a Day in the Life of Mpower’s Michael Brookes, as he and dog Seth travel the UK, safely installing backup power solutions. So there should be plenty to keep you busy throughout the festive season, until our next issue in January.
