INTERACTIVE INNOVATIONS: ARCO TO HOST LIVE

DEMONSTRATIONS Arco will be presenting their training and consultancy offer during this year’s show including its programs on confined spaces, working at height and hazard control.

The Hull-based, family-run company will also be hosting a variety of live demonstrations.

This year’s attendees can expect to measure the effectiveness of earplugs from inside the employee’s ear, with the help of Phil Wilkinson, Arco’s Assistant Product and Procurement Manager, as well as the Respiratory Services Manager, Kev Williams, demonstrating different face fit testing methods.

To highlight the importance of sun safety and skin protection, Nick Foort, Arco’s Technical Specialist for Skincare will also be hosting live UV Scanner and Dermascope Moisture Monitor demonstrations throughout the event, showcasing the damage caused to skin by UV rays as well as measuring skin hydration, elasticity and pigmentation.

Attendees to this year’s SHExpo are also encouraged to visit Arco’s stand to receive expert advice and detailed information on the dangers of purchasing non-compliant PPE. Two years on from when Arco first raised concerns to the safety industry about non-compliant PPE, the UK’s leading safety expert has found further evidence of failing products from a number of manufacturers. Throughout the

event, delegates will have access to laboratory videos and witness firsthand the effects of non-compliant protective equipment from a selection of dissected product samples.

What’s more, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Arco’s mission to raise awareness and eradicate modern day slavery within UK supply chains. Arco’s stand will offer attendees help and guidance on what steps they can take to ensure their supply chains are ethical.

As well as offering advice and support to all attendees, Arco’s team of experts will also be demonstrating the company’s virtual ‘Site Set Up’ app, which offers a unique view of a typical site whilst providing product recommendations, advice and checklists for those starting or expanding construction sites.

Bryan Lawrie, Sales and Marketing Director commented: “We are always delighted to exhibit at Safety and Health Expo as it’s a great way to talk directly to our customers and to those seeking advice in this complex area. We will be extremely busy this year, focusing on three main areas including our safety services, our quality campaign and our ‘Site Set Up’ app. We’ll have a lot of interactive elements to our stand, including live CCTV inspection demonstrations, face fitting demonstrations and UV Scanner and Dermascope Moisture Monitor, giving attendees practical advice on skincare and sun safety. We very much look forward to seeing everyone there - our experts will be available to answer any questions attendees may have.”

MAKING HANDS MATTER At work, the skin is often exposed to difficult conditions, whether that be due to the cold, frost, UV exposure or contaminants; from dust and solvents to oils and paints. At the Safety & Health Expo 2017, Deb will be highlighting the effects that harsh working conditions can have on the skin and how this can be avoided.

In the fight against occupational skin disorders (OSDs), Deb’s specialist team of Skin Care Advisors will be offering visitors Skin Condition Assessments. These one-to-one skin evaluations allow visitors to receive feedback on their skin condition, measuring things such as skin hydration and elasticity, whilst also providing advice on the correct product usage. Deb will also be showcasing its three Steps of Skin Safety at the show; entitled Protect, Cleanse and Restore; which visitors will be able to sample. To help highlight the risk that OSDs present, Deb will also be playing a selection of its ‘Speaking out about OSDs’ videos, to demonstrate why employees must speak out about their skin health to employers.

Deb is also excited to announce that this year, it has a 18

dedicated drop- in session at the Legal Clinic on Tuesday 20th June 2017 between 14:30 -15:30. During this session, Deb plans to highlight the risks associated with UV exposure and explain the responsibility of the employer regarding skin safety.

At the Legal Clinic, Deb plans to showcase its UV product range, as well as its UV camera, which can determine whether a visitor’s skin has been damaged from excessive UV exposure. Attendees to the session will also receive a free UV tool kit, which contains a UV Guide, product samples, a Toolbox Talk and various sun safety awareness posters. Through this interactive and informative session, Deb is aiming to empower Health & Safety Managers to deliver best-practice training to their employees, maintaining overall skin health.
