As we approach the halfway point of 2026, the biggest cleaning, hygiene and waste events of the year have been and gone, and what fantastic showcases they were for the industry. Both the Manchester Cleaning Show 2026 and


Interclean Amsterdam 2026 highlighted the best new products, technologies and ideas, while staggering amounts of business was conducted and invaluable knowledge was shared through talks and discussions.


As we move ahead into the second half of the year, it’s now time for everything shown at these shows to make it out into the real world. No matter how good things look or sound at a trade event, the rubber has to hit the road, and only time will tell how the latest innovations will work in the field, and if they offer genuine benefits.


In this Summer edition of Tomorrow’s Cleaning Ireland, we have a feature


section dedicated to Washroom Hygiene. In it, Liam Smith from Essity takes a look at the many different ways that public washrooms can be made more usable for everyone, following the results of a Tork Trends survey which said that only a small percentage of people who have difficulty using a public washroom are actually wheelchair users.


Elsewhere in our Robotics & Technology section, Liam also investigates the different apps available to help people find public toilets, and considers how the phone is becoming an essential for those visiting or servicing public
