The rest of the Volvo designed and built powertrain has been reinforced to cope with the higher torque output of the engine. With a carrying capacity of 28 tonnes and heaped capacity of 17.5m³, the Volvo A30G has a maximum speed of 53kph. The hauler is also fitted with CareTrack as standard, Volvo’s telematics system that enables remote monitoring of a wide range of machine functions (e.g. location, fuel consumption, service reminders, etc) thus optimizing customer operations. The new A30Gs will be covered by a Volvo Blue Service agreement with SMT GB carrying out regular servicing by Volvo trained engineers using genuine Volvo parts.

J C Balls and Sons Ltd is very much a family-run business. Established back in 1963 by founder Jim Balls, the company is in the safe hands of Jim’s sons and Co-Directors, Chris and Kevin, with their sons Jamie and Tom actively involved as well. Even at 90 years young, Jim Balls still takes an active interest in the day-to-day running of this busy plant hire, earthmoving, bulk excavations, recycling and haulage business. The company also has a ready mixed concrete division and runs an extensive fleet of tippers. ■

“Volvo articulated haulers are the market leaders for a reason...”
