Symantec Partners With Customers to Fight COVID

Even a pandemic does not stop

hackers The pandemic massively impacted how we work and live, but some things never change. In May, when most of the world was sheltering- in-place, the American and British governments issued a joint warn- ing that hackers and foreign enti- ties were targeting healthcare enti- ties, pharmaceuticals, and academics for COVID-19 research along with other sensitive patient data. In fact, the FBI found that reported online crimes quadrupled since the begin- ning of the pandemic, with many of these crimes targeted organiza- tions working on COVID-19 research. Given that Forbes recently reported that 74 percent of all breaches begin with privileged credential abuse, it is not surprising that many health- care organizations are seeking to adopt and implement a Privileged Access Management (PAM) solution as a foundation for combatting data breaches and protect patientc and COVID-19 data.

Intelligent modernization &

onsolidation Since the Broadcom acquisition of CA two years ago, we have focused on providing our customers more value from their Symantec Identity Security solutions. And in 2021, we will be bringing two innovations to the market to extend the value of these solutions: •

Shared Security Services.

Many of our customers have been using our IAM platform for years, some for over 20 years. But the market is changing. Modern apps and cloud migrations require new capabilities and enhanced features, which creates a dilemma: How can I continue to leverage my existing IAM platform, but also modernize it without buying yet another security product. In 2021 we will be delivering major cloud- native capabilities as part of our

existing Symantec IAM offerings, such as SiteMinder and the VIP Authentication service. These advanced components extend our existing solutions to provide some of the industry’s most advanced authentication and risk-based ana- lytics without the need to replace policies and agents. • OnePAM. Privileged Access Management (PAM) is one of the fastest growing security markets, but there are two distinct tools in this area: Privileged Account and Session Management (PASM) tools, which protect privileged accounts by vaulting their creden- tials; and Privilege Elevation and Delegation Management (PEDM) tools, which are agent-based and provide fine-grained access con- trols on the systems they manage. We have very strong components in each of these categories; how- ever, our customers are realizing the need to deploy both and have requested that we bring these two components together into one solu- tion. We have done this and will release OnePAM to the market in early 2021.

Leave no customer behind In this past year, many of us were awarded a rare opportunity to spend more time at home with our families, and it made me realize how much I leave behind when I travel. Then I reflected on our business and our customers, and I wondered how many of them felt left behind. How many invest in our software, but then see our attention shift after the contract is signed. This is why we have shifted our focus and measure success with one simple metric – cus- tomer success. Using this approach, we have seen improvement in cus- tomer satisfaction, renewal rates, and revenue growth. Delighting your customers is not just good business; it’s also good for business!
