How this book works


Successful Life Skills Grade 2 Learner’s Book forms part of the Successful Life Skills Grade 2 course. This includes the Successful Life Skills Teacher’s Guide Grade 2, and Successful Life Skills Grade 2 Workbook.


Successful Life Skills Grade 2 provides comprehensive curriculum coverage. The weighting and pacing of each content area is according to the NCAPS. Teachers can choose to follow the course as is, or adapt it to their specific classroom needs.


Teaching and learning Simple, clear text and lively illustrations in the Successful Grade 2 Learner’s Book make for the best learning opportunity. Language is clear and age-appropriate, which ensures that learners can understand the concepts and learn effectively. Guidelines are given in the Teacher’s Guide on how to complete the activities.


Practice The activities provide opportunities for learners to practice and consolidate their knowledge and skills. The free Foundation Phase Music CD with every Successful Life Skills Grade 2 Teacher’s Guide provides for music, movement and drama, and refers to the curriculum topics.


Assessment Opportunities for formal assessment in each of the Life Skills Study Areas are provided, for each term.These activities meet the formal assessment requirements as prescribed by the Life Skills NCAPS. Teachers may adapt the Assessment activities to the needs of the class. The detailed assessment programme is provided in the Successful Life Skills Teacher’s Guide.


Successful Life Skills Grade 2 Learner’s Book can be used independently, but is most effective when used as part of the complete course.
