It was through this effort, coupled with community outreach initiatives, that the populations in Quixadá and Ibaretama were discovered, giving new hope to adding to the existing conservation efforts and to increase the discussion about the possibilities of the grey-breasted parakeets range and


it genetic diversity as bottlenecked species. Preliminary investigations indicated that Baturité residents were not aware the parakeet is endangered from illegal trapping and habitat loss.
