IN MISSOURI Weekly MISSOURI Cattle and Grain Summary
USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News JEFFERSON CITY, MO
Missouri Weekly Cattle Auction Summary 11/13/20 Receipts: 31,071 Week ago: 19,969 Year ago: 29,063
Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to 5.00 higher, with some instances of 5.00 to 8.00 higher. The supply was heavy as it seems the fall feeder run has gotten under way. Fall harvest is wrapping up thanks to great harvest weather. Despite high grain prices, some farmer feeders are showing up looking for something to occupy time this winter. Along with late moisture, that seemed to be enough to sprout wheat and provide some graz-ing opportunities has added some buyers to the market providing a boost to demand. Buyers still want cattle weaned and with shots, but maybe not quite as hard on those without as a month ago when risk was just too much to take on. Boxed beef cutouts climbed this week with choice closing Thursday at 216.50 up 2.18 and select at 208.24 up 9.75 compared to last Friday. Feedlot sales developed on Thursday at higher levels. Live sales were re- ported mostly 108.00-110.00, up 3.00-4.00 and dressed sales mostly 172.00 which was up 5.00-8.00 compared to last week.
