Novacavi for Floating Solar Power Plant System

NOVACAVI team has been recently asked to develop and manufacture a prototype of a rugged and reliable custom-engineered cable solution for an innovative floating solar electricity system for marine environment installed in Oslo fjord, Norway.

Being challenged by its specific permanent application on top of floating fully supported solar panels above water level, NOVACAVI managed to engineer a water blocked composite power and signal cable with polyurethane outer sheath to ensure maximum performance without losing elasticity in constant cold climates, water splashing or submersion and sun exposure.

“Proud to apply our technical and manufacturing expertise and deliver our cable as a relevant component of this innovative floating solar power plant system with high energy production capacity and limited environmental impact”, said Francesca Faverio, Business Development Manager, NOVACAVI.

Specialist in custom cable design & manufacturing for advanced technology since 1975, NOVACAVI develops any cable solutions with engineering expertise, comprehensive knowledge of materials and a high degree of manufacturing.

The European Patent Office Intends to Grant OXE Marine Ab (Publ) a European Patent for an Electric Duoprop Outboard

Following a patent application by OXE Marine AB (publ) (“OXE”), the European Patent Office has communicated that it intends to grant the Company a European patent for a twin motor electric duoprop outboard, subject to OXE fulfilling certain administrative requirements.

The patent is part of OXE’s ongoing expansion of its intellectual property portfolio and is a natural continuation of OXE’s plan to dramatically reduce exhaust emissions in the marine outboard segment. Earlier this month, OXE entered into a cooperation agreement with Norwegian company Evoy AS regarding high powered electric outboards.

“I’m very happy that our continuous R&D focus is showing progress and to be able to expand further into the electrification of the marine segment. This patent will allow the use of twin electric motors, which can be packaged into a smaller envelope while simultaneously allowing for different torque and rotations per minutes to be transmitted to each individual propeller, thereby increasing the overall efficiency even more. Additionally, it covers OXE’s existing belt technology and conventional technology while also providing redundancy in case of failure with one electric motor” says Myron Mahendra, CEO of OXE Marine AB.

LEEA Launches Think Lifting ‘Lesson in a Bag’

The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has launched the Think Lifting School Lesson.

The ready to use ‘lesson in a bag’ includes films, content, experiments and leave behind hand-outs that will allow LEEA member companies to engage remotely with their local schools in order to help raise awareness of the Lifting Industry.

The company sends the ‘lesson in a bag’ to the school and conducts the lesson remotely via the Zoom platform using the provided presentation, which last approximately 40 minutes.

Any company can use the class presentations and the experiments will be provided free to LEEA members.

On 29 September 2020, LEEA CEO Ross Moloney used the Zoom platform to introduce this new solution for promoting the lifting industry as a career option to members.

He commented: “As a result of Covid-19, LEEA has changed the approach of the Think Lifting programme so that the Think Lifting School Lesson can now be delivered remotely, thus ensuring compliance with any pandemic regulations around schools.”

The scheme is initially piloting in the UK and any necessary materials can be sent to LEEA members free of charge.
