reducing costs and creating value,” said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World. “DP World is working to deliver integrated supply chain solutions to cargo owners, backed by our global network of ports, terminals, economic zones and inland operations. By working with TradeLens we will accelerate the digitization of global trade. Modernizing the processes by which logistics operate is

critical to building more

robust and more efficient supply chains which will help economic development and generate more prosperity.” TradeLens provides

visibility across the entire supply chain, from booking to clearance to payments and is built on a wealth of input from the industry including direct integrations with more than

110 ports and terminals, 15+ customs authorities around the world and an increasing number of intermodal providers. “It is very encouraging to

see the continued adoption of the TradeLens platform among global logistics players as it helps global supply chain customers expand and explore the benefits of digital documentation flows. In turn, the

broadened geographic

scope of the platform provides new opportunities for TradeLens ecosystem participants to innovate and develop digital offerings on the platform,” said Vincent Clerc, CEO of Ocean and Logistics, A.P. Moller - Maersk. “At its core the TradeLens

business model is an open and neutral platform to spur collaboration and digitization between all parties in the supply chain ecosystem. We are excited to welcome DP

operators moved 519,730 TEUs last month, down 17.3% from April 2019, which remains the port’s busiest April on record. Imports slid 20.2% to 253,540 TEUs, while exports declined 17.2% to 102,502 TEUs. Empty containers headed overseas decreased 12.2% to 163,688 TEUs. The port moved 2,202,650

recovery stage and rebounding cargo shipments as the nation contemplates relaxing shelter- in-place orders, people return to work and consumer demand rises – however it will not be in the short term,” said Mario Cordero, POLB Executive Director. “In the meantime, we continue to collaborate with importers, exporters, terminal operators and labor to develop a recovery plan while ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of goods moving

through the Port of Long Beach.” Decreased consumer demand

during stay-at-home health orders prompted by COVID-19 drove down imports coming into the Port of Long Beach. Exports were hampered by a shiſt of carrier services. Manufacturing in China is

rebounding from the COVID-19 pandemic; however, demand in the United States is below normal due to the ongoing crisis. While POLB had only one

canceled sailing in April, there are more to come. The San Pedro Bay port complex is expected to have 48 canceled vessel voyages April 1 through June 30 – 16 of which are scheduled for the Port of Long Beach. The two ports reported 10 blank sailings during the same period in 2019. The figures come on the heels

of 61 canceled sailings for the San Pedro Bay ports during the first quarter of 2020 caused by a manufacturing slowdown during the height of the COVID-19 crisis in China, nearly double from 31 blank sailings a year earlier. Business and labor leaders

are collaborating to keep POLB open and operating during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Port of Oakland loaded box volume edged up in April, but...

Port of Oakland loaded container volume edged up in April, but a likely downturn is ahead. That was the message port officials delivered today as the coronavirus pandemic pressured global trade. The port reported that April

loaded container volume increased 1.4% compared to the same month last year. Export loads rose 3.6 %, the

port said, while imports dipped 0.9%. The

outlook in coming

months is for reduced cargo volume, the port added. That is because 11% of scheduled Oakland

vessel calls in

May and June have been canceled by shipping lines. Ocean carriers worldwide are scrubbing voyages due to

dwindling demand by

shippers for vessel space. The culprit: a global economic downturn resulting from the pandemic. “Our April cargo

performance was better than expected, but it was most likely a blip resulting from the release of pent-up demand when factories re- opened in China after being quarantined,” the port said in a

statement. “We’re faring better than some other ports, but our forecast in the coming months is overall volume throughput decline of 5-to-10%.” The port said exports

leaving Oakland for overseas markets continue to be a bright spot midst the pandemic. Export volume has increased year-over-year in three of the past four months, according to
