Attend March Webinars ASCA will offer two webinars this month, “Zero-Stress CMS/Life Safety Code Surveys” on Tuesday, March 10, and “Your Policy and Procedure Manual, One Chapter at a Time” on Tuesday, March 24. Both webinars begin at 1:00 p.m. ET. William E. Lindeman, president of WEL Designs PLC in Tucson, Arizona, will present the first webinar. He will identify and explore the physical environment compliance issues that could turn a survey summation into a nightmare. He will explain the fundamentals of what is required for a Life Safety Code survey and how to effectively orchestrate ongoing compliance of electrical systems, piped medical gases and fire alarms.

24 ASC FOCUS MARCH 2015

The second webinar will cover the importance of reviewing your ASC’s Policy and Procedures (P&P) manual. Marcy Sasso, CASC, of Sasso Consulting LLC in Madison, New Jersey, will go over specific guidelines and tips to help attendees ensure that their ASC’s P&P manual complies with the latest regulations and is reviewed and recorded properly in the minutes of their ASC’s governing body. Register online at www.asc association.org/Webinars. The webinars offer continuing education credit for nurses (CE) and administrators (AEU), and ASCA members can register for the entire 2015 webinar series at once and save an additional 10 percent on the total price.

2015 ASC Quality Reporting Requirements Now in Effect Medicare-certified ASCs are required to report 10 quality measures this year for Medicare’s ASC Quality Reporting Program, including ASC-8: Influenza Vaccination Coverage among Healthcare Personnel. To help ASCs comply and avoid payment penalties down the line, ASCA has developed a free quality reporting resource that identifies the deadlines and reporting mechanisms associated with all 10 quality measures that ASCs will need to report this year. Access this valuable resource at www.ascassociation.org/ 2015ReportingRequirements. ASCs are required to collect data

on ASC-8 through March 31, 2015, and report the data to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). If you have questions about enrolling in NHSN (a process that can take several weeks) data collection or reporting on ASC-8, read ASCA’s ASC-8 frequently asked questions at www.ascassociation.org/ASC8FAQs. Visit ASCA’s Quality Reporting

web page, www.ascassociation.org/ QualityReporting, for additional resources, including the latest spec- ifications manual, a quality data G-codes cheat sheet and sample safe surgery checklists.
