WELCOME to your December issue! How have we got to the end of the year so quickly?!

It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I took over as MD of The Farmart in January and I have to admit that I've loved every part of developing this well established enterprise. This month we do have a couple of new team members to introduce you to – Jayne who will be running the office alongside Chris, and Sarah who's joined our sales force. Sadly for us, from January onwards Chris will have embarked upon her retirement. Since starting in the same week as me over 10 years ago, the Farmart office has been a slick, well-oiled machine thanks to her. There'll be no taking it easy as she embarks on a new life chapter however. No doubt our loss will be Lymm Golf Club's gain!

The past year has seen some massive challenges for farmers across Cheshire & surrounding counties. With the closure of long established companies, the cancellation of various shows and of course the extreme weather generally, resilience has certainly been the key skill required of us all. However, there are also many exciting opportunities on the horizon within the agricultural sector too. I'd like to draw your attention to the Cultivate Conference which is taking place on our door step on 29th January. Putting key business skills at the forefront of running an agricultural enterprise, not only makes financial sense, but is likely to be hugely motivational to those involved. I hope to see as many of you there as possible!

As working farmers, I appreciate that there won't be much of a break from your regular jobs over the Christmas period (especially for those with livestock!), but I do hope that you take whatever opportunities you can to rest both body & mind before the end of the year.

On behalf of all The Farmart team, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
