Some impressive case studies on how investment castings have solved significant problems in a variety of applications


"I'd rather fight than switch." Perhaps this advertising slogan has produced sig- nificant results for the cigarette manufacturer look- ing for a gimmick in his sales message.


However, to any company plagued with desigp, production or cost problems, it is certainly advan- tageous to investigate other means of effecting a solution to its particular problem.


Each application of the investment casting process is unique in itself. Usually, process is specified after careful analysis is made to determine the merit of switching from an existing method of manufacture to the investment casting process.


Obviously, not all problems can be solved with in- vestment castings. If this were true there would be no need to even consider any other method of manufacture. However, this process has been in- creasingly effective in solving a variety of challeng- ing requirements.


To illustrate this point member companies of the Investment Casting Institute were invited to sub- mit case histories on how their process proved an effective solution to their customer's problems.


These case histories are presented in the belief they may stimulate additional thinking about the un- limited potential of investment castings.
