Hawkinge SpitfireS Club The club is for the over 55's and we meet once a month on the second Wednesday in Hawkinge Village Hall. We have a variety of speaker's, music afternoons and outings during the year. Visitors are welcome and the cost is £3.00 including tea and biscuits. Start time is 2,30pm. Enquiries to 01303 489137

aCriSe feStiVal Of flOwerS You are invited to visit this traditional event set in the lovely North Downs countryside on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th august from 10.00am until 5.00pm each day. As well as the beautifully decorated 12th Century church, there will be a range of stalls including produce, cakes, plants, handicraft books and toys; games such as coconut shy and human fruit machine; pony rides along the church drive; photographs of local history and display of church records. Refreshments will be available in the marque with ploughmen’s lunches and afternoon teas. Parking and entry are free. From Folkestone take the A260 through Hawkinge to Densole; just before the Blackhorse Pub turn left and follow the road to Acrise.

the folkestone branch of the british Sugarcraft guild are having an Open Day on Saturday 3rd of august 10 am until 3pm at St.Andrews Hall, Surrenden Road Cheriton. There will be Four Corners of demonstrations all day, Have A Go for children and adults, Displays of work , a Cafe to enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of homemade cake and other goodies .We hope you can join us we would love to show you what we do. Entry is FREE. September we will be back to 1.30pm until 4pmon the first Saturday of eachmonth when we have TessaWhitehouse demonstrating at a workshop on brush embroidery. Your first visit is free so do come along. We also have a Cygnets group for children between the ages of 7 and 18. They meet on the same Saturday 9.30am until 12 noon. Starring Melissa McCarthy, Richard E Grant and Dolly Wells. Lee Israel (Melissa McCarthy) made her living in the 1970’s and 80’s profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah
Bankhead, Estee Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee is no longer able to get published because she has fallen out of step with current tastes, she turns her art form to deception, abetted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E Grant). An adaptation of the memoir “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” relays the true story of the best-selling celebrity biographer (and friend to cats). Doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start.
